Abstract

Measuring text readability has a long tradition in the linguistic research. The ease with which a text can be read can nowadays be measured by readability computer programs. One of such programs is Jasnopis. The aim of the paper is to assess the utility of this kind of application for communication with the hearing-impaired persons. The empirical material of the research are the documents of social consultations titled “Implementation of the convention on the rights of persons with disabilities – a matter of common concern”, which took place in Olsztyn in 2018. The consultations involved people with hearing impairment from Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship. The authors discuss problems in communication faced by the hearing-impaired persons and their access to the Polish language used in official public communication. The authors argue that the materials used in the consultations were not prepared properly in terms of the language that was used in them.
