Abstract

The tongue in the oral cavity can be defined in various context. Three of its activities are described in this article: resting position, inter-speech posture and tongue bracing and their relations to primary functions of orofacial complex are indicated. The tongue bracing was a special subject due to the fact that it has not been described in the Polish linguistics literature yet. The results of the study concerning Polish speech with using the instrumental method were also included.
