Analysis of the language social communication skills of a child with Down syndrome – a case study

Abstract

The aim of this article is to present the diagnostic and therapeutic process of a boy with Down syndrome. Speech therapy diagnostics were conducted using two assessment tools – the Afa Child Language Assessment Card by Elżbieta Drewniak-Wołosz and Anna Paluch and the Communication Effectiveness Assessment by Magdalena Grycman. The conclusions present the effects of speech therapy lasting 8 months. The presented research results are an attempt to answer the question whether it is possible to improve the communication and language skills of a child with trisomy 21, as well as whether the activities carried out had an impact on functioning in kindergarten.
