Abstract

The aim of this article is to assess the level of knowledge about selected speech disorders among students of second-year studies, second-cycle studies of speech therapy with audiology, special pedagogy and administration. The article presents selected typologies of speech disorders. For the purposes of this study, four disorders were discussed in more detail: aphasia, dyslalia, dysarthria and stuttering. The research was conducted via online surveys in which students answered questions about selected speech disorders, their causes and symptoms. A total of 86 students took part in the research, mainly from universities in Lublin. Based on the results obtained, it is concluded that the knowledge of speech therapy students with audiology is at a high level. However, the knowledge of special pedagogy students is at a level similar to that of administration students. Students of speech therapy with audiology and administration assessed their knowledge in accordance with the level presented during the research, while special pedagogy students assumed they had higher knowledge about speech disorders than the one presented during research.
